What is the best recipe for making cornbread from scratch?

I really like cornbread. It's really good, but I can't get the mix that often, so I thought I could make it from scratch. The problem is, I don't know and can't find a recipe. Please help.What is the best recipe for making cornbread from scratch?
INGREDIENTS





* 2/3 cup butter or margarine, softened


* 1 cup sugar


* 3 eggs


* 1 2/3 cups milk


* 2 1/3 cups all-purpose flour


* 1 cup cornmeal


* 4 1/2 teaspoons baking powder


* 1 teaspoon salt

DIRECTIONS





1. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Combine the eggs and milk. Combine flour, cornmeal, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with egg mixture.


2. Pour into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking pan. Bake at 400 degrees F for 22-27 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cut into squares; serve warm.What is the best recipe for making cornbread from scratch?

1 cup flour


1 cup cornmeal


2 tablespoons sugar


1/2 teaspoon salt


2 teaspoons baking powder


1 egg


1 cup milk


1/4 cup oil, melted butter, or something like that.





stir dry ingredients together. stir in wet ingredients until sort of blended, can still be a little lumpy.





pour into hot cast iron skillet or dutchoven that has a coating of oil on it. Bake in 400F oven 15 to 20 minutes.

Should be a recipe on the Corn Meal box . Add a little sugar if you like it sweeter .
